Philips Hue - Smart Plug
Operation of Philips Hue:
Philips Hue is smart lighting that is operated via your smartphone or tablet. This is both via a smart App and via voice control from both Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. There are also various wireless wall switches and motion sensors that can control the light.
What does Philips Hue require?
Philips Hue requires a control box, called a Hue Bridge – this Bridge must be connected with a network cable to your Router and is the link between your network and the bulbs themselves. This Bridge is purchased separately, or is included in various Starter Kits.
The Philips bulbs do not communicate via WiFi, but instead via ZigBee, which means that you are not dependent on having WiFi in every corner of the house, or if you would like to have lamps outdoors. ZigBee works by having each bulb extend the signal, so the more bulbs you have, the wider your signal is and the further it can travel.
